PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

Sodium chloride (Sodium chloride), is an inorganic ionic compound, chemical formula NaCl, colorless cubic crystal or fine crystalline powder, taste salty. The appearance is white crystal, its source is mainly seawater, is the main component of salt. Easily soluble in water, glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol (alcohol), liquid ammonia; insoluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid. Impure sodium chloride has deliquescence in air. Stability is relatively good, its aqueous solution is neutral, the industry generally uses electrolysis of saturated sodium chloride solution to produce hydrogen, chlorine and caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) and other chemicals (generally known as the chlor-alkali industry), but also used in ore smelting (electrolysis of molten sodium chloride crystals to produce active metal sodium).

USES

① Hydrogen and chlorine gas are produced when electrolyzing an aqueous solution of sodium chloride. Chlorine gas has a wide range of applications in the chemical industry and can be used for the synthesis of polyvinyl chloride, pesticides, hydrochloric acid and so on.

② Dangs method for sodium metal: Sodium metal is produced by electrolyzing a mixture of molten sodium chloride and calcium chloride. Calcium chloride is used as a flux, which can lower the melting point of sodium chloride to below 700℃. Calcium is less reducing than sodium and does not introduce impurities.

③ Sodium chloride is necessary for many biological reactions, such as molecular biology tests in a variety of solution formulations contain sodium chloride, bacterial culture medium contains mostly sodium chloride. It is also a raw material in the ammonia-alkali method of making soda ash.

④ Inorganic and organic industries are used as raw materials for the manufacture of caustic soda, chlorate, hypochlorite, bleaching powder, the refrigerant of refrigeration system, the raw material of organic synthesis and the agent of salt precipitation. Used as heat treatment agent in iron and steel industry. High-temperature heat source with potassium chloride, barium chloride and other salt bath, can be used as a heating medium, so that the temperature is maintained at 820 ~ 960 ℃. In addition, it is also used in glass, dye, metallurgy and other industries.
