Overview

PRODUCT PROPERTIES

Potassium bisulfate is a white crystalline solid that is easily soluble in water at room temperature. Its solution is highly acidic and can corrode metals, skin and eyes. It can dehydrate and crystallize at high temperatures to form potassium sulfate.

USES

Potassium bisulfate has a wide range of applications in industry. It is mainly used to prepare chemicals such as potassium sulfate, phosphates, sulfuric acid, etc. Potassium bisulfate can also be used as a component of fertilizers, which can provide the potassium element and acidic environment required by plants.

PREPARATION METHOD

The preparation of potassium bisulfate is generally completed through a two-step reaction. Potassium chloride and sulfuric acid are reacted to form an intermediate of hydrogen chloride and potassium bisulfate. Then, potassium bisulfate with higher purity is obtained through steps such as condensation, drying and crystallization.

SAFETY INFORMATION

Potassium bisulfate is highly corrosive and may cause severe burns when in contact. Wear protective gloves and glasses when using potassium bisulfate to avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. Avoid generating dust during operation to avoid inhalation or respiratory irritation. Potassium bisulfate should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated place away from combustible materials and oxidants. If a spill occurs, take appropriate clean-up measures to avoid reactions with other substances. In an emergency, seek medical assistance immediately.
