Overview
Ceramide is a class of amide compounds formed by dehydration of long-chain fatty acids and the amino group of sphingosine, mainly ceramide phosphorylcholine and ceramide phosphorylethanolamine. Phospholipids are the main components of cell membranes. 40%~50% of sebum in the stratum corneum is composed of ceramide. Ceramide is the main part of the intercellular matrix and plays an important role in maintaining the balance of moisture in the stratum corneum.
Ceramide (Cers) exists in all eukaryotic cells and has an important regulatory effect on life activities such as cell differentiation, proliferation, apoptosis, and aging. As the main component of intercellular lipids in the stratum corneum of the skin, ceramide not only acts as a second messenger molecule in the sphingomyelin pathway, but also plays an important role in the formation process of the epidermal stratum corneum.
PRODUCT USES
Barrier effect, adhesion, moisturizing effect, anti-aging effect, cell function.
Daily Chemicals
Using skin-rejuvenating essence cosmetics containing ceramide can enhance the skin's anti-aging function, keep the skin elastic, smooth and delicate, and reduce the formation of facial wrinkles.
Medical aspect
Ceramide plays an important messenger role in the biological effects induced by various cytokines, vitamin D3, Fas and CD28 ligands. Its role in mediating cell apoptosis has attracted increasing attention. At the same time, ceramide is also involved in various physiological and pathological processes such as cell differentiation.
Food industry
Many health foods have been developed using some of the physiological functions of ceramide, such as inhibiting blood pressure rise, activating immunity, inhibiting lipase activity, and inhibiting cancer cell proliferation.
